KoSha - CEO/B-Smooth Productions/Hip-Hop Artist
When one hears her unique voice, there will be no confusion as to whom it is. A new sound and style to female hip-hop music is being introduced through the newest upcoming Chicago-born artist, KoSha.
Many successes have been achieved musically since the start of her career in January of 2004. KoSha, born and raised as Inez Benson on the south side of Chicago, has a musical background dating back to her early elementary school days, playing several different instruments in her school band. With this passion for music and entertainment, a new journey began. In 2004, KoSha re-introduced herself to this passion through hip-hop. KoSha, the writer, entertainer, hip-hop artist, producer, businesswoman, developed from her love of music and entertainment. Creating a path for herself, KoSha quickly gained exposure in the artist community and the general music listening community through live performances throughout the Chicagoland area and mid-west region . In 2006, KoSha signed a production deal with Mr. Carl Davis and the historic Chi-Sound Records (The Dells, Tyrone Davis, Chi-Lites, Gene Chandler) and quickly began working on her first commercial release (B4 My Time...I Got Next!!!) with production guided by platinum and gold producer Kevin “K-Low” Rhames (Tupac’s Holla If Ya Hear Me, Pain). This album presented the single “Angel In Da Sky featuring Moesta, which became a favorite amongst fans, local artists and radio personalities alike, and gained radio rotation on both syndiacted, internet, and college radio stations in the mid-west. In 2007, on good terms, KoSha left Chi-Sound Records to further expand her own production company and work on her upcoming independent release. KoSha has successfully been able to appeal to the ears of those hip-hop fans who have lost connection with the very few female mainstream hip-hop artists of today. Though obstacles have been presented along the way, KoSha has undoubtedly managed to stay focused, self-determined and motivated to be an artist with longevity. With continued drive and inspiration for being creative musically, KoSha will definitely be amongst the rankings of a MC Lyte, Queen Latifa, and those who are considered to be female hip-hop history makers.
Currently, KoSha is in the studio with engineer Nate Oberman (Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, George Clinton, Pussycat Dolls) completing her second full length album entitled “Kopestetik” (2009), with production being provided by Atlanta up and coming producer White Owl Bundy. Collaborations on this project include two of Chicago’s most sought after female and male R&B vocalists, Rene’ Matthew and Lepolion Henderson.
